Important Update on the SKIN strip club!  CANCELLED
LAPD HEARING RE-SCHEDULED! - The March 19th Police Permit Review Panel hearing has been rescheduled for either April 16 or April 30 but this has not been confirmed yet. As soon as we know, we'll let you know.

Read The 'LAPD Hearing Report' - the recommendations you've been waiting for ! If you attended the strip club hearing at Hamilton High, you'll probably want to
download the Hearing Examiner's recommendations but please, first read this entire message .

When the 7-member Police Permit Review Panel considers this report at the hearing, they will hear arguments from both sides.

**There is no guarantee the Review Panel will accept any of the recommendations**

To ensure the Panel thoroughly considers each of the Examiner's recommendations, including outright denial of the permit, our community attendance is critical.

IN APRIL, YOUR ATTENDENCE WILL BE NEEDED!
We realize going downtown on a weekday is inconvenient but we will really need one more big turnout of parents, residents and business owners to achieve our best outcome.

The hearing will be at
Parker Center Auditorium
150 N. Los Angeles Street
Los Angeles, CA 90012

Date: April 30, 2008 details here

JANUARY 28 2008 - - SAVE THE DATE! ATTEND THIS HEARING!
The Police Permit Review Panel has set January 28 to take public comment before making a decision on the strip club's final operating permit. The club is now operating on a temporary permit.

It is critical that the community turn out in force for this meeting. The panel examiner needs to see and hear first-hand how many people in the community are against the strip club. The hearing will allow the community to ask for operating restrictions, infraction penalties–or denial of the permit. Talk to your neighbors, community groups, faith organizations and schools to spread the word!
Please attend this hearing!

Strip Club in SoRo? - Get the latest sample protest letters
It has come to our attention an adult cabaret and strip club is being built at 3384 and 3388 S. Robertson Boulevard, Los Angeles, California 90034. We understand that a Request for Hearing and Petition letter is being circulated by concerned parents, residents, homeowners and businesses owners.

The purpose of the letter is to ask the L.A. Police Commission to not issue this business a Cafe and Show Entertainment Permit; and to request a public hearing to learn more about the planned operation of this business which has been evasive and not willing to meet with community leaders.

We encourage open meetings, public hearings and dialogue between all merchants and residents in and near South Robertson. If you would like to read what the buzz is about, please download the letter.  If you agree with it, feel free to modify it or use as is, get signatures of your own,  and mail it to the L.A. Police Commission.

This is a time sensitive issue. Act today!   The L.A. Police Commission to get your letters and/or petitions.  They do not accept fax. It must be mailed or hand-delivered.  Thank you.

2006 July 2006 News
TWO GANG-RELATED TRAGEDIES STRIKE SORO
Tuesday, July 11, 2006 - - Anna Interiano, 16, was shot and killed about 1:30 p.m. Tuesday as she walked with friends in an alley in the 8900 block of Cadillac Avenue.

Thursday, July 13 -- Late Thursday, two young Latino males (identity unknown at this time) were shot to death at Cadillac and South Garth Avenues, mere blocks from Tuesday's shooting. The latest shootings, which appeared to be gang-related, occurred at about 8:15 p.m. as Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa attended a nearby vigil for Ana, police said.

In response to the recent tragedies within our community, SORO NC will hold an informal community discussion and vigil tonight. The discussion will begin at around 6pm at the Palms Fellowship Hall - 2908 Robertson Place. The vigil will commence at 7pm on the front lawn of the fellowship hall.

I know this is short notice, but I hope many of you can attend. Tonight's discussion will be very informal and no formal action will be taken by the SORO NC Board. The key for the board and the community will be to come away with a solid ideas for SORO NC and its partners to act upon within the next couple weeks. Representatives from our council district offices, the LAPD, and the Mayor's West LA Office will be in attendance.
